Some of my favorite insights Julie shared were:
From an early age even as she struggled:“I always had an intuitive sense that our bodies are supposed to be a natural weight, not overweight and not underweight. Always had a feeling that eating was supposed to be intuitive. I didn’t think that we were meant to live on diets.”
On understanding and healing emotions:“I could actually identify emotions. Sit with emotions. I didn’t have to go exercise them away. I didn’t have to go eat them away. I could actually tolerate them. I could learn how to comfort and soothe myself with them.”
Words of encouragement for someone facing an eating struggle:“It doesn’t require willpower. It doesn’t require white knuckling it. It doesn’t require willpower. It doesn’t require going hungry. All it requires is willingness.”

Merrill gives an excellent understanding of how Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is bringing phenomenal change to the lives of her clients. Merrill also discusses with David the difference between big “T” traumas and small “t” traumas.
