From an early age even as she struggled: “I always had an intuitive sense that our bodies are supposed to be a natural weight, not overweight and not underweight. Always had a feeling that eating was supposed to be intuitive. I didn’t think that we were meant to live on diets.”
On understanding and healing emotions: “I could actually identify emotions. Sit with emotions. I didn’t have to go exercise them away. I didn’t have to go eat them away. I could actually tolerate them. I could learn how to comfort and soothe myself with them.”
Words of encouragement for someone facing an eating struggle: “It doesn’t require willpower. It doesn’t require white knuckling it. It doesn’t require willpower. It doesn’t require going hungry. All it requires is willingness.”
